Dhaulagiri Peak is 8,167 meters (26,795 feet) high.
Dhaulagiri Peak is located in the western region of Nepal, in the Dhaulagiri massif.
Climbing Dhaulagiri Peak requires a high level of physical fitness, mountaineering skills, and experience with high altitude climbing. Climbers must also obtain a climbing permit from the Nepalese government.
The most common route for climbing Dhaulagiri Peak is via the northeast ridge, which is accessible from the village of Marpha.
The dangers of climbing Dhaulagiri Peak include high altitude sickness, extreme weather conditions, avalanches, falls, and crevasses. The remote location of the peak also makes rescue operations difficult in case of an emergency.
Duration: Kathmandu to Dhaulagiri is almost 210 km
Time:Climbing Dhaulagiri Peak typically takes about 4-6 weeks, depending on the route taken and weather conditions.
Permit: Climbing Dhaulagiri Peak requires a permit from the Nepalese government. The permit fee for the peak is set by the government and is based on the season in which the climb takes place. As of 2021, the permit fee for Dhaulagiri Peak ranges from $2,500 to $7,000 depending on the season.
Guide: Hiring a licensed guide is mandatory for this trek, and it is recommended to hire a porter as well.
Starting point : The most common starting point for climbing Dhaulagiri Peak is the village of Beni, which is located in the Myagdi district of Nepal. From there, climbers follow the Kali Gandaki River and trek through remote mountain villages to reach the base camp of the peak.
Finishing point: The finishing point for the climb is typically the village of Marpha, which is located on the opposite side of the peak from the starting point. Climbers can then take a flight from Jomsom airport to Pokhara or Kathmandu to return to civilization.
Highest point : The highest point on Dhaulagiri Peak is the summit, which stands at 8,167 meters (26,795 feet) above sea level. Climbers typically spend several weeks acclimatizing and making multiple attempts to reach the summit, which is the ultimate goal of the climb.
Foods : The trek offers a variety of food options ranging from traditional Nepali dishes to international cuisine. The teahouses along the trail also serve hot drinks and snacks.
