Poon Hill, which is situated on the border of Myagdi and Kaski Districts in the Gandaki Province of Nepal, is a prominent hill station that provides a stunning view of the Annapurna Massif range and Dhaulagiri mountain range. This lookout serves as the main viewpoint in the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek.
The trek can be done in 3 or 4 days. The route is well-marked, and there are many guesthouses and restaurants on the way. The Poon Hill is a great trail to do as an acclimatization trek before attempting one of the more challenging routes like the Annapurna Circuit trek or the Annapurna Base Camp trek.
The ideal time for undertaking the Poon Hill trek is between March and May or from September to November, as during these months, the weather is favorable, and the temperature is moderate. Although the mornings and evenings may be slightly chilly, the days are generally clear, which offers an excellent opportunity to admire the magnificent views of the mountains.
The Annapurna Poon Hill trek is classified as moderately difficult because of its steep terrain, high altitude, and limited amenities. Completing this trek requires a reasonable level of physical fitness, coupled with a deep enthusiasm for the highland adventure.
Poonhill is the highest point at 3,210m. However, you will only be at this altitude for a short time to enjoy the view.
The Poon Hill summit provides a spectacular view of the snow-covered Himalayan behemoths, including the more than 8,000 meters high Dhaulagiri and Annapurna I, as well as several other peaks.
